PLANT SURVEILANCE AND MONITORING

NAQIA monitors the borders of Papua New Guinea , to minimise the introduction of pests and diseases into the country. These borders include: the PNG-Indonesian Border, the PNG-Australia border and the PNG-Solomon Island Borders. NAQIA has Quarantine Officers at points along these borders.

NAQIA also has Quarantine Officers at the international ports, such as the Airports and Seaports. The officers inspect the vessels (ships, yachts, commercial and private aeroplanes, etc) for and pests or vectors of pests and diseases, and to ensure that garbage is disposed of correctly.
